A delivery address is only part of a handoff plan. The person receiving an order may be delayed, away from the phone or unable to reach the agreed entrance. Discussing that possibility before the run is simpler than trying to solve it while a driver waits outside.
Choose the person who can receive the order
Confirm the recipient's availability for the delivery window and identify the entrance they will use. If you are arranging the run for another adult, make sure they know what is coming and agree to the handoff. Share only the contact information needed for that delivery.
For a business or rental property, identify whether reception, a property manager or another authorized person can accept the items. An address with several occupants should not leave the driver guessing who is responsible.
Discuss a fallback before departure
Ask what options are available if the intended recipient cannot be reached. A different recipient or location needs to be agreed, and an unattended drop may not be suitable for the items or property. Do not assume a driver can leave everything at the nearest door.
Weather exposure, item value, access restrictions and the nature of the order may affect the decision. If no suitable handoff can be arranged, a different delivery time may be the clearer choice.
Keep one contact available during the run
Choose someone who can respond to a call or message and make the necessary decision. If circumstances change, contact ARC as early as possible and wait for confirmation of the revised plan.
A request for a fallback is not a guarantee that every option will be available or included in the original service. Discuss any change in route, waiting or timing before relying on it. Preparing for a missed handoff helps protect the customer's plans without asking the driver to improvise access or make decisions about unattended items.
Review ARC’s current rates and service details, then contact ARC to discuss the scope and timing of your request.
